Deputy says that measure aims to investigate abuses
A project that requires communication about birth registration of babies whose mothers are 14 years old or younger in Mato Grosso do Sul to the State Public Ministry (MPMS) was approved by the Constitution, Justice and Final Drafting Commission (CCJR) of the Legislative Assembly (Alems ) and will go through other committees to be voted on in plenary. Author of the proposal, deputy Pedro Pedrossian Neto (PSD) says that the objective is to create a mechanism for investigating and combating crimes of rape of vulnerable people and abuse committed against children and adolescents. “Making registration a means of quick and mandatory reporting, which will allow for a more effective investigation of each case,” he states. The text provides that communication must be carried out without exposing the child or adolescent, ensuring the confidentiality of data. The registry office will have to send a copy of the birth certificate to the MP electronically. The project, according to the deputy, is based on the Child and Adolescent Statute (ECA), which provides priority in the treatment and formulation of public policies to protect childhood and adolescence.
