Ordinance No. 163 of April 24, 2024, published on Official Gazette of the Federal District (DODF) on Thursday (25), establishes the Center for Strategic Information on Health Surveillance (Cievs-DF), within the scope of the Federal District. The document defines the powers and operation of the new space.

Despite being created in 2007 as the Rapid Response Center, the service did not formally exist within the administrative structure of the Department of Health (SES-DF). Now, with the publication, Cievs consolidates itself as a service for epidemiological intelligence, information and action in public health. “The aim is to avoid or mitigate the emergence of events that put the population at risk”, explains the center manager, Priscilleyne Ouverney Reis.
Skills
The Cievs make up the National Public Health Emergency Alert and Response Network, which identifies emergencies through notifications via telephone and email.
According to the ordinance, the center’s responsibilities include developing strategic actions for detection, verification, monitoring and improvement of responses to public health emergencies within the scope of the Federal District. To this end, the center coordinates with the technical areas to receive notifications and guidance for health professionals regarding conduct relating to diseases, injuries and events.
