A Civil police investigates the case of a 23-year-old man, who died this week in an Emergency Care Unit (UPA), in Vergueiro, in São Paulo. Yuri Castro died after being rescued still alive, but without documents, by the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) on Monday morning (22), on a street in the Santa Ifigênia neighborhood, in the center of São Paulo. He was last seen in a gay saunaknown as Hotel Chilli, in Largo do Arouche, in the central region of the city, in the early hours of Monday (22).

The body was identified by family members at the IML on Wednesday (24). According to data from the police report, the probable cause of death in the UPA was hypoxemia, which is the lack of oxygen in the blood, and hypovolemic shock, that is, the loss of large quantities of fluids and blood. The case was registered as a suspicious death by the 5th Police District, in Aclimação, and is being investigated by the 3rd Police District, in Campos Elíseos. According to a note from the Public Security Secretariat (SSP), the circumstances of the death are being evaluated. Furthermore, “expert examinations were requested and are being prepared”.

This Friday (26), the owner of the place where the man was last seen, Douglas Drumond, spoke out about the case on social media. Through a statement, he informed that the boy left the place on Monday (22) at around 4:25 am, and that he did not suffer any aggression there. “The establishment and its employees have no responsibility for the events that occurred, and there was no aggression or forceful action towards the guest”, says the note.
