An operation carried out this Friday (26), at the Lemos Brito Penitentiary, in Salvador, resulted in the seizure of 31 cell phones, drugs, 30 liters of artisanal cachaça, among other items.
According to information from the Criminal Police, the 4th phase of Operation Mute took place with the aim of removing drugs and cell phones from the cells in module V of the unit, which belongs to the Mata Escura Penal Complex.
The action was attended by 42 criminal police officers from the ordinary and extraordinary ranks, 21 criminal police officers from the Specialized Group in Prison Operations (GEOP), one federal criminal police officer and five representatives from the Coordination of Monitoring and Evaluation of the Prison System (CMASP/GSI) .
During the search process, the following were found:
- 31 cell phones
- 30 liters of artisanal cachaça
- Eight chargers;
- Two headphones;
- Nine cell phone casings;
- Nine USB cables;
- A knife;
- Two handmade swords;
- 4.6kg of marijuana-like substance;
- 259g of cocaine-like substance;
- 16g of crack-like substance;
- Various tablets;
- Notes.
Operation Mute is coordinated by the Ministry of Justice and Public Security, through the National Secretariat for Penal Policies (Senappen), in partnership with local governments to combat illicit communication of organized crime and reduce violence rates nationwide.
