Investing in crew training has been one of the biggest challenges in the Alagoas port process. The lack of labor affects waterway transporters in the state and compromises one of the biggest advantages of this modality: the ability to transport large volumes of products at a reduced price, in addition to using less fuel and, consequently, emitting fewer pollutants. up in the air.

To discuss proposed solutions, the executive director of the CNT (National Transport Confederation), Bruno Batista, held a series of meetings with waterway authorities, in Maceió (AL), this week. Inspection and safety for vessels on the coast of Alagoas were topics that were also part of the agenda.

On Wednesday (24), the director was at the Port Authority, where he met with the captain of the Port of Maceió, Frigate Captain Luciano da Silva Teixeira, to whom the CNT Transport Atlas was delivered. The president of Sindaneal (Union of Maritime Navigation Agencies and Port Operators of the State of Alagoas), André Macena, also participated in the meeting.

On Thursday (25), Bruno Batista met with the administrator of the Port of Maceió, Diogo Pinheiro, accompanied by the vice-president of Sidaneal, Luciano Brito. On that occasion, the publication Cargo Terminals of Brazil – Port Gateways was delivered to Pinheiro.

The material addresses the economic and logistical importance of cargo terminals in Brazilian ports. The work also presents a comprehensive characterization of port facilities. Among the aspects analyzed are the movement of goods, existing infrastructure, operational indicators and environmental performance.

The Alagoas agenda concluded with an institutional visit to Sindaneal, where the executive director of the CNT met with the president of the Union, André Macena and director Matheus Macena. The meeting at the Union dealt with the role of maritime agents in ensuring the proper functioning of the Port of Maceió. The Sindaneal leader highlighted the importance of mobilizing companies in the segment through the CNT structure. Linked to Fenamar (National Federation of Maritime Navigation Agencies), the Union is one of the most active in the Northeast Region.
