The president also got emotional and cried when mentioning his great-granddaughter who has diabetes. “Do you know who will thank you for the rest of her life? My great-granddaughter, who has diabetes 1. She lives with the device on her shoulder and with her cell phone. For every thing she eats, she has to control it. And what’s fantastic is She asks her mother or father to give her insulin. It’s already part of her life,” he said.

Lula participated in the inauguration of the insulin factory in Nova Lima (MG). The Biomm company’s project has 12 thousand square meters of built area and received an investment of R$800 million. According to the government, the factory’s production will have the capacity to serve 1.9 million patients.

The president also used part of the speech to defend the national industry. “A sovereign country needs a strong national industry, especially in the health sector. We have to produce what this country lacks. Here in Minas Gerais, for example, we lost Henfil and Betinho because we didn’t have medicine for hemophilia,” said Lula.

Praise for a member of Biomm’s administrative board. Lula said that, at the beginning of his first term, he did not know Walfrido dos Mares Guia and, when hugging him at the event, he stated that he wished he had had this opportunity sooner. The businessman spoke at the ceremony and said emotionally that he considers the president a “great friend”. At the end of the event, Lula cried again as he hugged the businessman.
