Rio – One of the buildings of the former Clube dos Porttuários, located on Avenida Francisco Bicalho, in Santo Cristo, in the Port Zone of Rio, will be demolished at 7am this Sunday (28). The city hall set up a special traffic and safety scheme for the implosion, which is part of the public authorities’ actions to promote the revitalization of the region.

This will be a new stage in the series of property demolitions in the region that began in March, in partnership between the municipality and Caixa Econômica Federal, which received the land as part of the agreement that financed the Porto Maravilha Urban Operation.

The operation must involve more than 155 agents from municipal bodies such as CET-Rio, Civil Defense and the Center Subprefecture, in addition to 67 municipal guards. The Rio Operations Center (COR) will intensify monitoring on the streets near the area with cameras and the use of a drone.

CET-Rio set up a scheme to isolate the entire area from this Saturday (27), with a ban on parking and road closures in the area. The closures will be carried out in a staggered manner on Avenida Francisco Bicalho, starting at 5:30 am on Sunday. Civil Defense established a security perimeter of 150 meters around the implosion.

Access to Novo Rio Bus Station must be via Rua Equador or Avenida Brasil, a lane next to the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics (Into). The city recommends that those scheduled to board at the time of the closures move forward.
