Parents are outraged after principal proposes that students paint rooms and build a lake at a school in AC

The holding of an edition of the Viver Ciência Fair has provoked controversy in a rural school in the municipality of Epitaciolândia, in the interior of Acre. The Luiz Gonzaga da Rocha school is located at km 9, on BR-317.

It turns out that due to hosting the event from the State Department of Education, the director of the educational establishment, Neno Valdivino, decided to make improvements to the school with the participation of students, which displeased some parents.

The management’s idea is to organize a competition where students will have goals such as painting the classrooms and even building an artificial lake in the educational unit. The problem, according to some parents who sought the ac24horas, and ask not to be identified, is that the school says it does not have resources available and the costs of the “investments” must be paid by the students.

“That’s not right, it’s a very high cost, we did a survey and this lake that the school wants, for example, for Viver Ciência, costs around R$3,000. Many families cannot afford it and this type of cost is the school’s obligation and not ours”, says a student parent.

Valdivino explained that the activities are part of the students’ learning process. “Here at school we offer various activities to enhance student learning. This is a proposal, we are encouraging students to develop these activities. These are all proposals that are being discussed and will be taken to the plenary during the meeting with parents next week”, he declared.
