The Gazette | Paulo Baraona is elected new president of the Federation of Industries of ES

Businessman Paulo Baraona will be the new president of the Federation of Industries of the State of Espírito Santo (Findes). The current 1st vice-president of the Federation was elected unanimously, obtaining 30 votes from the unions present able to vote in the electoral election, which took place late this Thursday afternoon (25), at the entity’s headquarters, in Vitória.

Born in Portugal and based in Espírito Santo, the businessman will preside over the institution for the next four years (2024-2028) and will take up the post on July 30th. President-elect Paulo Baraona explained that his work plan will be based on continuity and constant improvement in the industry.

“We had an electoral process for the presidency of Findes that was very mature and convergent. This is a demonstration that industrialists are focused on the interests of the sector and the Federation. I want to congratulate Cris [Samorini], current president, for the way he conducted the electoral election, always demonstrating great clarity, balance and giving everyone the opportunity to participate in it. I also want to thank the other two pre-candidates, Marcos Guerra and Tales Machado, for the dialogue we had in favor of the industry, and to all the unions that make up the Federation”, commented the president-elect, Paulo Baraona.

Paulo Baraona, who will be the 12th president of Findes, will be responsible for six entities that make up the Federation: Espírito Santo Industry Center (Cindes), Industry Social Service (Sesi-ES), National Industrial Learning Service (Senai-ES) , Euvaldo Lodi Institute (IEL-ES) and Industrial Educational Development Institute of Espírito Santo (Ideies)/Industry Observatory.

“For the future, from July onwards, we will continue to work hard on issues such as innovation, education, professional training and issues linked to defending the interests of the industrial sector, but without leaving aside all the other areas in which we operate. This work will be for the benefit of the Federation’s shareholders, which are our unions. We will also count on the support of our employees who are already doing brilliant work at Findes. Together we will give the industry more and more prominence”, commented Baraona.

For the current president of Findes, Cris Samorini, this is a very important moment for the Federation. “I’m very happy that you [Baraona] was elected as the new president of Findes. This is a position that has a very large responsibility: taking care of industries. I am sure that you have dedicated a lot in recent years and will dedicate yourself even more to ensuring that our sector continues to grow and contribute to the development of our State. I wish you much success and count on me”, said Cris Samorini to the president-elect.

Who is Paulo Baraona?

Graduated in Civil Construction, in Lisbon/Portugal, Paulo Baraona is a businessman and founding partner of Cinco Estrelas Construtora, which has been operating in the Espírito Santo market since 1986. He was president of the Civil Construction Industry Union in Espírito Santo (Sinduscon), between 2016 and 2022. He is currently the 1st vice president of Findes. He also worked in the organization and founding of the Portuguese Business Chamber of Espírito Santo, being its first president.
