The price of a 60-kilo bag of conilon coffee has jumped more than 60% in the last 12 months: from R$620 to R$1,110. Historical record. Brazil is the second largest producer in the world and 70% of the Brazilian harvest comes from Espírito Santo, mainly from the North and Northwest regions. According to estimates by the National Supply Company (Conab), the Espírito Santo harvest will reach 11.065 million bags in 2024, an increase of 9% compared to last year. All this said, the conilon coffee business, in Espírito Santo, will have an increase in the movement of resources that will be close to R$ 4.5 billion during 2024. According to the accounts of the State Secretariat for Agriculture, 50 thousand properties in Espírito Santo work with the species.

The harvest is about to begin, but the effects of the sharp rise in prices are already being felt, after all, the product is sold all year round. The ongoing increase in income is making the wheels turn. Other sectors of the economy, such as retail and the real estate market, are already recording good results in the regions most impacted by the conilon culture.

The Águia Branca Group, owner of dealerships for the most diverse brands of vehicles, records, in the first 100 days of 2024, an increase of 26% in sales made in the Northwest of the State. The comparison is with the same period last year. On average for the region’s market, growth is a relevant 23%.

The property market is also feeling the effects. Soma Urbanismo, one of the largest subdivision and gated condominium companies in the North and Northwest of Espírito Santo, has been breaking consecutive revenue records for the year. “We had the best January and February in the historical series and a good month of March. April has also been going well. Of course that’s not all, but the price of coffee is having a positive impact, we feel it at the tip. We are observing this in the projects in the North and in the Northwest of the State and also in the South of Bahia. Other companies in the sector have the same perception”, explained Danielli Simões, Commercial Director at Soma.
