A 19-year-old young man was found dead inside a reservoir belonging to Companhia Pernambucana de Saneamento (Compesa) in Camaragibe, Greater Recife. According to the Civil Police, witnesses said that the victim was trying to take a selfie on top of a water tank when he lost his balance, fell and drowned.

The case happened on Sunday night (5), at the Santa Terezinha reservoir, which is in the Alberto Maia neighborhood. The Fire Department reported that it was called at 10:10 pm to rescue the victim, who was submerged in the reservoir maintained by Compesa. The young man’s name was not released.

The corporation said firefighters used diving techniques and removed the body from the scene. The incident ended around midnight.

According to the Civil Police, the case was registered by the Camaragibe police station as a “death to be clarified”. The corporation also informed that the investigations continue “until the fact is clarified”.
