Fire hits land in Duque de Caxias

A large fire hit a plot of land in Campos Elíseos, which is in Duque de Caxias, in Baixada Fluminense, on Monday afternoon (6). According to initial information, a refrigerator was being built.

The fire started around 3:30 pm, according to the city hall, and firefighters were called to fight the flames on Estrada José Pinheiro Alonso. Five barracks are working to control the fire: Campos Elíseos, Nova Iguaçu, Irajá, Duque de Caxias and São Cristóvão.

At 6pm, the fire had not yet been controlled.

The smoke was seen from several municipalities in Baixada Fluminense and even in the center of Rio.

It is not yet known what caused the fire or whether there was flammable material in the area. There were no injuries.
