ISD brings science, education and health to the Fair of Municipalities and Tourist Products of Rio Grande do Norte

-

The Santos Dumont Institute (ISD) is one of the confirmed exhibitors at the Fair of Municipalities and Tourist Products of Rio Grande do Norte (Femptur), the largest tourism event in the state, which takes place on the 26th and 27th of April. There will be around 50 municipalities gathered, with different sectors and fields of knowledge and professional activity. The Fair will be held at the Convention Center, on Via Costeira in Natal, with free entry.

ISD’s participation in the Fair is part of the activities celebrating the institution’s 10th anniversary as a Social Organization of the Federal Executive Branch. Throughout the year, the Institute promotes actions and partnerships with civil society agents, seeking to strengthen the purpose of social transformation through education within a decade.

At Femptur, the objective is to present the Institute’s work in health education, research and rehabilitation to the public. For this, the managers of the ISD units, located in Macaíba, will be present: Lilian Lira Lisboa, from the Anita Garibaldi Health Education and Research Center (Anita), and Edgard Morya, from the Edmond and Lily Safra International Institute of Neuroscience (IIN- ELS).

According to the managers, event participants will be able to learn more about the functioning and performance within the Multidisciplinary Residency in Health Care for People with Disabilities (RESPCD) and the Postgraduate Program in Neuroengineering (PPGN), through the demonstration care and rehabilitation strategies and assistive technologies and innovations developed at ISD.

“We participated in this event with the expectation of bringing back to society a return on our interdisciplinary work in teaching, research and extension activities, in residency and master’s courses, in the Specialized Rehabilitation Center and in laboratories. It is an opportunity to expand knowledge about the union between scientific and technological production and health care and solutions”, reports Edgard Morya, manager of IIN-ELS.

Several exhibitors from 50 municipalities in the state occupy the Convention Center space, with themes ranging from tourism and gastronomy to crafts and agriculture. The event is expected to attract, according to the organizer, 12 thousand people over the two days.

Femptur has support from the Government of the State of RN, Sistema Fecomércio, Sebrae/RN, Banco do Nordeste and other agents of society.
