Hawaiian Canoe Cup brought together athletes from four states in Bahia

Last Saturday, the 20th, the second edition of the Copa Z6 VA’A Bahia (@z6copavaa) attracted 155 athletes from four states: Bahia, Alagoas, Rio de Janeiro and Sergipe. Cláudio Britto, from the CB Paddle club, secured first place overall in the V1R Open category, completing the race in 1h32min. Meanwhile, Babi Brazil, representing the Yacht Clube, came top in the women’s category, with 1h44min in the V1R 40+ Open.

The start of the competition, organized by Z6 Náutica and the Bahian Federation of VA’A – FEVAABA, took place at Marina da Penha, in Ribeira, with the finish line marked at Marina Aratu, located in Aratu Bay, in Simões Filho. The winners’ awards party at Marina Aratu brought together a lively audience of around 400 people.

“The Cup was a milestone in Hawaiian canoeing in Bahia. The event had a great impact among athletes due to its organization, reception and structure”, celebrates Agatha Wicks, creator of the competition and director of Z6 Náutica. “The Z6 VA’A Bahia Cup became part of the Bahian sports calendar and, after the second edition, it is already consolidated as a reference event for the national Hawaiian canoe”, says the president of Fevaaba, Zeba Vilas Boas.

The second edition of the Copa Z6 VA’A Bahia was held by Ellas Produções & Eventos and was sponsored by Bomix, Simões Filho City Hall and the Government of the State of Bahia, through SETUR – Secretariat of Tourism. In addition, Marina Aratu, Eau, Corona and Ativa Náutica Coletes received support.
