Defendant Italyuri Eliacim Teixeira Ursulino Barbosa, who killed a friend during a couple’s fight, in Maceió, was sentenced to 5 years and 8 months in prison for the crime of privileged homicide. The sentence will be served in a semi-open regime. The trial was held this Wednesday (24), in the capital of Alagoas.
Prosecutor Marcus Mousinho recalls that the crime, which occurred in January 2016 in the Chã de Bebedouro neighborhood, in Maceió, victimized Marcone, with whom the defendant had a friendly relationship. They were together, drinking alcoholic drinks, when Italyuri had a disagreement with his wife.
At that moment, the accused tried to hit her with a fish knife, when Marcone tried to stop the attack, being hit with the weapon in the side of the chest. The victim’s brother rescued her, taking her to the State General Hospital (HGE). However, Marcone did not survive the injury and died.
As mentioned, the actions of the Alagoas Public Prosecutor’s Office resulted in the defendant’s conviction for privileged homicide, which occurs when the perpetrator commits the crime under the control of violent emotion or when provoked by the victim.
