The Federal Police (PF) targets a criminal organization suspected of controlling drug trafficking in cities in Campo das Vertentes, in Minas Gerais, this Thursday morning (April 25). The operation takes place after the drug dealer appointed as the leader of the group threatened kill military police officers with rifle shots Of region. 16 arrest warrants and 12 search and seizure warrants are being served in the cities of Andrelândia, São Vicente and Minduri.

In addition to those investigated, three other drug dealers were arrested for possession of weapons and drugs. Agents from the Integrated Force to Combat Organized Crime (FICCO/MG) seized money, weapons, drugs and cell phones at the addresses where the searches were carried out.

According to the PF, there was a increase in violence in the Andrelândia region from the year 2022. This began the investigation that revealed that local drug traffickers joined a criminal organization. An alert was issued after the man identified as the group’s leader sent messages and videos on social media threatening to take the lives of military police officers.

In the posts, the criminal showed that he had military equipment, such as rifles. He is known in police circles, having already been arrested for drug trafficking and illegal weapons possession. “This fact motivated firm action and a quick response from the security forces that are members of FICCO,” stated the Federal Police.

At least 130 soldiers from the Civil, Military and Penal police participate in the operation. It was called “AEGIS”, a word in Greek mythology that represented Zeus’ shield in the fight against the titans. According to the PF, it refers to “the need to protect society and avoid the dominance of organized crime”.
