Property collapses and causes damage to neighboring houses in Salvador neighborhood | Bahia

A property collapsed and a sewage manhole broke in the Pero Vaz neighborhood, in Salvador, on Wednesday (24). The collapse occurred during heavy rains that have hit the capital of Bahia since the weekend. Nobody was injured.

According to residents of the neighborhood, the property had already been unoccupied for days due to the risk of collapse. Codesal informed that it was called for the incident and that it will inspect the site.

With the collapse of the house, damage was caused to at least three other properties in the region. In addition to infiltrations due to the rupture of the sewer mantle, the debris caused structural damage to other residences.

In one of them, a hole was opened in the floor. Codesal has not yet announced whether other properties will need to be demolished. [Veja foto acima]

According to Codesal, in April it already rained 725.2mm in Salvador, according to the Ondina rainfall station, used as a reference. The historical average for the entire month is 284.9mm.

Since Tuesday (23), the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) has issued a warning of potential danger due to the accumulated rainfall in the capital of Bahia, which could reach up to 5 mm per day. According to the institute, the notice runs until this Thursday (25).

From Friday (26) until Sunday (28), the forecast is for cloudy skies with rain. On these days, the minimum temperature will be 23ºC and the maximum 30ºC.
