Slavery allegations

Regarding complaints from human rights entities that Mauritania suffers from modern forms of slavery, the ambassador denied this.

Understand the case

Eight bodies were found on the boat that arrived in Brazil in the Bragança region, on the coast of Pará. Another body was nearby. The PF collected 25 raincoats, which led to the conclusion that the vessel left Africa with 25 people.

The bodies of the victims were temporarily buried in Belém — until the identities are discovered, and the families of the victims are notified.
