The third edition of the Big Band Cefart concert at the Public Library of Minas Gerais, made possible by a partnership with the Clóvis Salgado Foundation, will bring the public a special evening on April 30th, Tuesday, at 7pm. The event, which has free entry and free rating, promises to delight the public with a diverse repertoire that celebrates classics of jazz, pop and Brazilian rhythms.

Composed of students from the Music course at the Artistic and Technological Training Center of the Clóvis Salgado Foundation, Big Band Cefart is an artistic-pedagogical proposal that seeks inspiration from the famous American Jazz Orchestras. Under the artistic direction and conducting of Camilo Christófaro, and with the participation of teachers Gustavo Machado and Luis Flávio Aguiar Miranda, the group will present a repertoire that includes hits by renowned artists such as Bruno Mars, João Bosco and Tom Jobim. Among the songs chosen for the concert, highlights include “Sweet Caroline” by Neil Diamond, “My Favorite Things” by Richard Rodgers, “Lamento” by Pixinguinha, “All of Me” by Seymour Simons Gerald, “Só Danço Samba” by Tom Jobim and Vinicius de Moraes, and “Uptown Funk” by Bruno Mars.

The Ministry of Culture, the Government of Minas Gerais and the State Secretariat of Culture and Tourism of Minas Gerais, through the Clóvis Salgado Foundation, present “Big Band Cefart at the State Public Library of Minas Gerais”. The activities of the Clóvis Salgado Foundation are Master Sponsored by Cemig and Instituto Cultural Vale, Prime Sponsorship by Instituto Unimed-BH and ArcelorMittal and co-organized by APPA – Art and Culture. Federal Government, Brazil. Union and Reconstruction.

Artistic director and conductor Camilo Christófaro highlights that in 2024 many new students joined Big Band Cefart, which, according to him, was important for the group. “We managed to make good preparation to put on a beautiful concert and start the Big Band work this year. The repertoire was based on the band’s six years of work, and what caught our attention most was the effective participation of singers from the school. I believe that this will appear regularly throughout the year, and it will be very interesting for us to present other repertoires within the context of popular music”, explains Camilo.

The projection for the event is the best possible. “We are opening this series of concerts that take place in the State Public Library theater. It is the third year that the concerts have taken place there, and this is very positive for the Stage Technology and School of Music students. It is a place that always welcomes us very well, and the expectation is that we will perform good concerts throughout 2024”, concludes Camilo.
