President of the PT, federal deputy Gleisi Hoffmann (PR) said that the president of the Central Bank (BC), Roberto Campos Neto, is a “bolsonarista”. Gleisi’s speech comes after Campos Neto argued that the sign of full employment in the labor market in Brazil raises concerns about possible pressure on inflation. At the time, the president of the BC gave an interview to CNN.

According to Gleisi, for the BC president, “the prospect of full employment is a threat to his mission of sabotaging Brazil’s growth.”

The speech that angered Gleisi occurred after the IBGE released the unemployment rate for the first quarter of 2024, which was 7.9%. “The concern comes when companies are unable to hire, and you have to start raising salaries,” said Campos Neto. “If you raise wages for the same level of production, that means you are starting an inflationary process. So, the concern comes from there.”

Gleisi Hoffmann was this week’s winner. This year, the winner will win the Geraldo Alckmin Trophy, complete with a personalized meme and a pair of great socks.
