A 42-year-old man was arrested this Tuesday afternoon (23) on suspicion of selling drugs inside the Roraima General Hospital (HGR), the largest in the state. He was admitted to the unit, according to the Military Police.
The police arrived at the unit around 1 pm, after being called by a drug user, known to the suspect. He told officers that the man was selling drugs inside HGR.
The suspect was located in block B, where he had been hospitalized since March 3. Six portions of cocaine were found with him, but the man denied that he was selling it and said it was for his own use, according to the PM.
The police spoke to a doctor on duty. She said that she had already suspected that the man was selling drugs in the hospital because some people who were not registered as his visitors had gone to the bed where he was and took small packages.
Furthermore, according to the doctor, the man walked around other blocks of the hospital without authorization. According to the PM, the man had already been arrested twice for drug trafficking.
In a statement, the Department of Health (Sesau) said that “the unit also informed that it is investigating the circumstances related to the alleged entry of companions without due control by the Emergency Room reception team.”
As his medical discharge was already underway, the suspect was released and taken by the PM to the Civil Police Flagrant Center.
