Public hearing discusses unfinished works in Pernambuco: a call to action!

This Tuesday morning (23), the Legislative Assembly of Pernambuco was the stage for an event of extreme importance and urgency for the State. Promoted by the Economic Development and Tourism Commission, the public hearing requested by deputy Henrique Queiroz Filho (PP) brought to light the worrying reality of structural works in Pernambuco, including BRs 104 and 232, which are unfinished.

The event brought together authorities, representatives from the public and private sector, infrastructure experts and members of civil society in a frank and necessary debate about the challenges faced in the state. In his speech, deputy Henrique Queiroz Filho highlighted the seriousness of the situation, stating: “We are talking about billions of reais in public resources used in works that, for various reasons, were not completed within their initially established schedules.”

Among the works cited by the deputy, the duplication of BR 104, the Abreu e Lima Refinery and the duplication of BR 232 stand out, the latter of which has been paralyzed since 2008, in the city of São Caetano. According to Queiroz Filho, this is a situation that generates enormous human and financial losses, compromising the development of the region and the well-being of the population.

Faced with this alarming scenario, the urgent need for joint efforts between the State Government, other federative entities and civil society to resume and complete these vital projects for the development of Pernambuco and the people of Pernambuco was highlighted. “It is our duty, as representatives of the people, to fight for efficiency in public management and for the well-being of our population”, highlighted the deputy, calling on everyone involved to unite.

“And in this joint effort to be articulated from today, in which this Legislative Branch positions itself as the first collaborator and facilitator, we have the support of the Regional Council of Architecture and Engineering (Crea), an entity with relevant services provided to Pernambuco society. We also invite all professional bodies that can provide assistance in this noble mission for the benefit of our people and our State. We can no longer allow public money to be wasted on projects that do not reach their conclusion”, added the deputy.
