CUIABÁ (MT) – Flu vaccination of the target audience in Mato Grosso reached just 15%, according to data from the Ministry of Health updated until Monday, 22nd. Vaccination coverage in the state is the fourth lowest in the state Country.
Elderly people, pregnant women, women who have recently given birth, healthcare professionals, children aged 6 months to less than 6 years and public school teachers, as well as people with disabilities and indigenous people are among the groups considered priority.
To date, of the 1,283,407 people in the target audience, only 179,603 have received the vaccine. The municipalities of Cuiabá, Rondonópolis, Várzea Grande were those that most applied the vaccine.
The Ministry of Health’s campaign officially began on March 25th and covers states in the Northeast, Central-West, South and Southeast. The composition of the vaccine is intended to protect against Influenza A (H1N1), Influenza A (H3N2) and Influenza B.
National scenario
Across the country, the target population is 75,811,681 and 14,535,502 doses were administered. The percentage of vaccination coverage for priority groups is 22.05%.
The states with the best vaccination coverage are: Rio Grande do Sul (30.12%), Paraíba (26.83%) and Santa Catarina (26.66%). The worst rates are in the Federal District (13.8%), Mato Grosso do Sul (14.2%), Bahia (14.94%) and Mato Grosso (15%).
According to the Ministry of Health, vaccination against influenza takes place in the first semester in the Northeast, Central-West, Southeast and South regions, while in the North it will be carried out in the second semester, when there is greater viral circulation and increased transmission of influenza.
The ministry justifies this change in strategy since 2023, aiming to adapt to the climatic particularities of each region.
