Submarine in PA: vessel was made by hand, but with high quality and resistance, experts point out | For

An investigation carried out by the Scientific Police of Pará on a submarine found in São Caetano de Odivelas, northeast of the state, identified that the vessel was handcrafted and, even so, has high quality and resistance.

According to expert Evaldo Soares, the submarine was not manufactured by a naval company, but rather by hand, using fiber and resin.

“Despite being handcrafted, the submarine was built with high quality and resistance, which gives it the capacity to make long journeys,” he said.

The vessel, which is seized at the Belém naval base, is 19 meters long and 2.90 meters wide in the external area – a size similar to that of a tractor truck.

Internally, the cabin is 1.70 meters deep, while other parts are 70 cm deep.

“These measurements suggest that the vessel was semi-submersible, as part of the cabin was not submerged,” said the expert.

Fishermen found an abandoned submarine in São Caetano de Odivelas.

The expertise pointed out that the dimensions and divisions inside the submarine show that the vehicle could transport any load weighing at least six tons.

“The submarine was equipped to attach at least three propulsion engines, although these components were not found. The absence of other controls and equipment suggests that the submarine was abandoned by its users,” said Evaldo Soares.

The experts must produce a definitive report in more detail to deliver to the River Police Station, responsible for investigating the case.
