Brazil has so far recorded more than 2.6 million probable cases of dengue this year: one million more compared to all cases in 2023.

And so far, 991 people have died from the disease compared to 1,204 last year.

The data was presented this Tuesday (2) by the Ministry of Health.

Despite the numbers, in general, dengue cases have fallen in recent weeks.

Nineteen states and the Federal District record a downward or stable trend. But the other seven increased: Alagoas, Bahia, Maranhão, Mato Grosso do Sul, Pernambuco, Rondônia and Sergipe.

In any case, this is a time for attention, as explained by the Secretary of Health and Environmental Surveillance at the Ministry of Health, Ethel Maciel.

Ten states, the Federal District and 465 municipalities declared an emergency because of dengue.

Rio de Janeiro, which was the first municipality to declare an emergency, was also the first to finalize the decree.

Regarding vaccines, more than 1.2 million doses were distributed to states and the Federal District. And more than half of them have already been applied.

According to the director of the National Immunization Program, Éder Gatti, the Ministry of Health recently received another 930,000 doses of the vaccine.

So far, the Ministry of Health has released almost R$98 million for states and municipalities to combat dengue.

This comes from a total of R$1.5 billion in federal resources reserved for these actions.
