We want it! announces City And Color show in Rio

City and Color is the pseudonym of Canadian singer-songwriter Dallas Green, who is also a guitarist, vocalist and one of the founders of the celebrated post-hardcore band Alexisonfire. The show in Rio de Janeiro takes place on June 14th, at Vivo Rio, with tickets available for purchase from April 2nd. It is the third time that the artist has performed in the city, where he performed in 2015 and 2016, both with the initiative of QUEREMOS!.

The project has accumulated a legion of passionate fans around the world, who connect with the depth and intimacy of Green’s music, who started City and Color in 2005. In his almost two-decade career, he has released seven studio albums, performed countless world tours with festivals such as Lollapalooza and Ohana (by Pearl Jam leader Eddie Vedder) and won 4 JUNO awards, awarded by the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, including “Best Album” and “Songwriter of the Year”. Live, City and Color gains more body with a varied line-up of guest musicians who form a super band, further enhancing the melodic songs and folksy elements that are the hallmark of the project.

The tour that arrives in Rio accompanies the release of the seventh studio album, “The Love Still Held Me Near”, with 12 tracks. Recorded in California and mixed by longtime collaborator and three-time Grammy winner Jacquire King (Kings of Leon, Norah Jones, Tom Waits, Modest Mouse, Shania Twain and more), the album features Dallas’ voice louder than never, supported by arrangements that are both delicate and grandiose, inspired by what the artist classifies as the most difficult period of his life due to the loss of people very close to him and a crisis in his marriage. “It is not a specific album about these events, but one that explores the themes of loss and grief and how to get out of these situations. It’s everything we have to deal with as human beings, trying to live and overcome such difficult moments, which are part of the journey”, comments the artist.

In addition to the legacy of City and Color and Alexisonfire, Dallas teamed up with global icon P!nk to form the folk duo You+Me in 2014. The duo’s acclaimed first album, “rose ave.”, debuted at #4 on the Top 200 Chart in the USA, #1 in Canada and #2 in Australia. The musician is also recognized for his philanthropic contributions to music education in Canada.

The name City and Color comes from the name of Dallas itself: Dallas, a city, and Green, a color. His reason for the name came from discomfort with “releasing the album under the name Dallas Green.”
