To mark World Autism Awareness Day (2/4), the State government, through the Department of Health (SES), takes stock of the results of the TEAcolhe Program, aimed at people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and your families.

In three years of operation, the work developed jointly by health, education and social assistance networks It has already provided 11,253 services, 1,871 receptions to families and 2,107 continuing education activities, with 83,624 people trained in Rio Grande do Sul.

TEAcolhe has 28 regional centers, five macro-regional centers and 23 health care centers (CAS) operating throughout the State. In February this year, the increase in the number of CAS was announced.

There will be 20 new service locations. Six of them are already qualified (the last step before actually starting operations) and 14 are in the hiring process.

There are also three other macro-regional and two regional centers that are in the agreement phase, which will expand coverage in the State.

Pioneering

TEAcolhe was launched in April 2021 and has a service model that is pioneering in Brazil. It emerged with the aim of improving and strengthening local health, education and social assistance networks that provide assistance.

The program works in an integrated manner and covers people with the disorder and their families, schools, social assistance network services, primary care health units, specialized care centers, non-governmental entities and the community in general.

Access to care is based on records and requests made by municipal health departments and regulated via the consultation management system (Gercon).

Incentives

Each macro-regional reference center received from the State government, in a single installment, an implementation incentive of R$200 thousand and a monthly funding incentive of R$50 thousand reais. Each regional center receives R$30,000 for monthly costs. TEAcolhe CASs receive, in turn, a monthly funding incentive worth R$80,000.
