The beautiful photo of the giant anteater named Hanna being released in Mato Grosso do Sul is a finalist for the Environmental Photography Award 2024, in Monaco. The record was made by photographer Fernando Faciole.

The photograph depicts the emotional moment of the animal that underwent a series of cardiac examinations at ICAS (Institute for the Conservation of Wild Animals) before returning to its natural habitat.

Hanna’s release was part of innovative research carried out by ICAS, which aims to improve the diagnosis of cardiac dysfunction in anteaters kept in human care.

In the image, the president and founder of ICAS, Arnaud Desbiez, and the veterinarian and partner of the initiative, Rafael Ferraz, also appear.

Let’s vote!
