Rio – Agents from the 5th BPM (Praça da Harmonia) arrested, on Wednesday night (27), a man identified as the leader of one of the largest cargo theft gangs in Rio de Janeiro. The suspect was found in one of the accesses to Morro do Pinto, in Santo Cristo, in the Central Region. According to the Military Police, he still has an outstanding arrest warrant for kidnapping through extortion and qualified robbery.

On Wednesday night, police officers from the 5th BPM were called after the suspect was identified on Rua Pedro Alves, also in Santo Cristo. In the region, after a siege, the military found the man inside a car.

According to the PM, he is also responsible for vehicle theft and sudden kidnappings in the Center area, in addition to various other crimes.

The suspect, whose identity was not revealed, was taken to the 27th DP (Vicente de Carvalho) and will be available to the courts.
