The Bakairi Indigenous Land, located in the municipality of Paranatinga (375 km from Cuiabá), and the Nova Chance Foundation, in the Capital, were the spaces chosen to host the second edition of the National Civil Registry Week – Register, in Mato Grosso . The campaign is an initiative of the National Council of Justice (CNJ) and carried out in the State by the General Inspectorate of Justice (CGJ-TJMT). This year it will take place the week of May 13th to 17th.

The official opening in Mato Grosso will take place on the morning of May 13th (Monday), in Aldeia Pakuera, owned by the Bakairi people. The definitions took place last Friday (22), during the second meeting of the Internal Affairs Department and partners of the initiative, which discussed the demands necessary to provide services, as well as operational issues to guarantee access to services by the priority groups of the organization. national campaign: indigenous population and people deprived of liberty.

The idea of holding the opening ceremony in a village came from the General Inspector of Justice of Mato Grosso, Judge Juvenal Pereira, which was promptly accepted by the partners, as the State has the largest indigenous population in the country. In contact with representatives of the National Foundation of Indigenous Peoples (Funai), he was introduced to Aldeia Pakuera, considered “The Capital of the Bakairi”, located in Paranatinga.

“We want the action to serve those who need it most, who live far from urban centers and have difficulty accessing services. To serve indigenous people, we count on the involvement of all partners, who spare no effort to provide quality service. This commitment added to the experience we had in 2023, I am sure that we will repeat the success of last year’s Register”, evaluated the inspector.

“This event has a much more symbolic character and the magistrate’s idea is precisely this, to take this action at a national level and draw attention to this population that cries out for the need to be served“, reinforced the assistant judge of the CGJ-TJMT, Eduardo Calmon, who coordinates the work of Registre-se in Mato Grosso.

Nationally, the project served more than 100 thousand Brazilians in vulnerable situations. In Mato Grosso, more than 1,400 services were provided, including issuance of certificates, national identity cards and services carried out by the Regional Electoral Court (TRE-MT). In addition, specific services were provided for the homeless population. Mato Grosso was a pioneer in offering assistance to people deprived of their liberty, immigrants and refugees.

The “Register!” campaign is part of the Program to Combat Civil Under-Registration and Expand Access to Basic Documentation by Vulnerable People, promoted by the National Justice Inspectorate and the Courts of Justice. The action aims to issue documents such as National Identity Card, Voter ID, duplicate Birth and Marriage Certificates. In Mato Grosso, CGJ signed a partnership with 13 institutions and is aligning strategies with old and new collaborators for the second edition.
