National Force stays in Rio until Easter Sunday

Just before the Easter weekend, little policing is seen on Rio de Janeiro’s highways. Five months ago, the National Force was sent to reinforce patrolling on the roads, but RJ2 teams that traveled the roads did not find any personnel from the corporation.

For two days, RJ2 teams covered the roads. Throughout the entire stretch of Arco Metropolitano, no police force was found.

At the exit to Belford Roxo, Duque de Caxias and Xerém, a police car was seen. On Dutra Highway, neither the National Force nor the Federal Highway Police were found.

On the same road, between Seropédica and Trevo das Margaridas, a National Force vehicle was on the access to Belford Roxo, this Wednesday (27). Three police officers with rifles were on patrol.

The work of the National Force continues until next Sunday (31). Around 300 agents have been in RJ to help reduce violence in the state for five months.

To date, 12 people have been arrested. In addition, two motorcycles, two cars, a cell phone and a fake gun were seized.

When contacted, the Rio government said that the Ministry of Justice is responsible for the National Force.

The Ministry of Justice informed that the management and planning of the National Force’s actions are the responsibility of the PRF. According to the ministry, the heavy rains in the region also affected the points of operation, and there are six inspection points: five on BR-040 and one on Via Dutra.

In turn, the PRF said that vehicles patrol in patrols and that there is no National Force base in Arco Metropolitano.

Cost of R$10 million in 45 days

In total, 300 men and women from nine states were transferred to Rio de Janeiro with the aim of working on the highways that cross the state, under the leadership of the Federal Highway Police, with the aim of preventing the entry of weapons and drugs.

Faced with the public security crisis in Rio de Janeiro, the operation of the Ministry of Justice was authorized after a request for support from Governor Cláudio Castro (PL), amid the escalation of violence in the state.

For the work, the Federal Government spent more than R$3.5 million only with new equipment: Carbines, shotguns, rifles, grenades, pistols and lots of ammunition. The payment of agents’ daily wages cost the Federal Government’s coffers more than R$3.6 million.

7 trucks searched in 1 month

According to the management of the National Force, the agents operating in Rio de Janeiro did more than 10 thousand approaches to vehicles and pedestrians in the first month of work. However, only 7 trucks were stopped and searched during this period.

In more than a month, agents did not seize weapons or drugs during the operation in the state. The survey, carried out based on the Access to Information Law (LAI), shows two arrests and a minor arrested for attempted robbery.

During that month, two other people were arrested for bodily harm and failure to pay child support.

If the lack of incidents with positive results were not enough, two National Force agents ended up involved in a situation that was, to say the least, embarrassing for the corporation.

National Force agents were robbed in Rio

National Force agents entered by mistake and had their weapons stolen in Complexo do Chapadão, in Guadalupe, in the North Zone of Rio. The weapons were recovered by PMs from the 41st BPM (Irajá), but the situation shed light on the actions of police officers who did not They know well the particularities of crime in Rio.

The two stolen agents belong to the Alagoas and Acre police and are on loan to the Force. They were in an unmarked vehicle and, following directions from a navigation app, entered Rua Fernando Lobo when they were approached by drug traffickers.

The police officers identified themselves, and the bandits released them after stealing two 9mm caliber pistols.

According to the agents’ report, they were refueling the vehicle at a gas station on Via Dutra. Upon leaving the post, they tried to return to their service base, in Campo dos Afonsos, in the West Zone, but the application traced a route that passed through the entrance to the community.
