Aracaju 169 years: new works project the capital of Sergipe for the future

-

In the month in which the capital of Sergipe celebrates 169 years of history and progress, Aracaju City Hall is preparing the delivery of several structural works that are changing the city’s landscape and providing a better quality of life for citizens. Whether they are projects made possible with the Municipal Treasury’s own resources, or those provided through financing with banking institutions, millions of reais are invested in the city to offer an even better quality of life to Aracajuans.

In this sense, the “Aracaju Cidade do Futuro” program stands out, an investment package of R$500 million that is being directed to the implementation of 24 essential projects, financed in partnership with the Novo Banco do Desenvolvimento (NBD). These projects reflect the commitment of the current municipal administration to promoting the social and sustainable development of approximately 20 communities throughout the capital of Sergipe, as explained by the municipal secretary of Infrastructure and president of Emurb, Sérgio Ferrari.

“Aracaju City Hall continues at an accelerated pace of development and progress. And this is reflected in the countless works that we have already delivered and that we will deliver in the coming days. The celebration of the capital’s 169th anniversary will include the delivery of important equipment to the city, such as squares, schools, an assistance center and work orders to begin more works. These are ceremonies that symbolize the care that City Hall has for Aracaju and its more than six hundred thousand inhabitants. Investments that will certainly leave a beautiful legacy for the entire population”, highlighted Ferrari.

Throughout this month, five more leisure areas will be delivered to the population by the municipal administration: the Conselheiro Tertuliano Azevedo square, in the Aruana subdivision, worth R$ 1,393,557.87; the revitalization of Frei Augusto de Santana square, in the Lamarão neighborhood, with resources in the order of R$729,600.25; Antônio Newton Menezes square, in the Jabotiana neighborhood, in which the City Hall is investing a total of R$ 2,599,894.15; and the new square in the Japanese neighborhood, with own investments totaling R$854,921.00.

In the central region, the emblematic Promenade on Avenida Ivo do Prado gained a new look after a revitalization that not only restores its historical beauty, but also boosts tourism, local commerce and strengthens the sense of being Aracajuan. In total, the City Hall invested an amount of more than R$6.3 million, with resources from the Municipal Treasury. The work should be delivered in the next few days.

The City Hall also prioritizes quality education and support for the city’s most vulnerable families. In this way, the municipality invested in important works and will deliver to the population the revitalization of the Florentino Menezes Municipal Elementary School (Emef), in the Areia Branca neighborhood, the result of an investment of R$ 6.4 million; the revitalization of the Municipal School of Early Childhood Education (Emei) Júlio Prado Vasconcelos; and the new Specialized Reference Center for Social Assistance (Creas) in the Jabotiana neighborhood, made possible by an investment of R$ 1,139,674.97.

New works

In addition to the inaugurations, the municipal management, still celebrating the city’s anniversary, will sign work orders to begin a series of projects that will transform and make the city even more prepared for the future. An example of this is the infrastructure work on the macro-drainage channel in the Expansion Zone and the new avenue in the region to ensure that Aracaju is prepared for the challenges of urban growth, while investments in subdivisions such as Luciana, Novo Horizonte, Recanto da Jaqueira and Porto do Gringo will provide quality of life to the community, within the scope of basic infrastructure.

This month’s commemorative program also includes the start of duplication of the Godofredo Diniz bridge [sobre o rio Sergipe] and the construction of Via Litorânea, in the Coroa do Meio neighborhood; as well as the revitalization of the Youth squares, in Augusto Franco; Mariana Moura, in the 17 de Março neighborhood; and Dom José Thomaz, in Siqueira Campos, a neighborhood that will also receive a new school.

Aracaju City Hall is investing in every corner of the city to ensure that all its residents can prosper and live well. To this end, it maintains fiscal balance and continues to act in a planned manner to encourage the development of the capital of all Sergipe residents.
