National vehicles reflect progress in the agroforestry industry in Mato Grosso do Sul

-

In recent months, several media outlets have been reporting on the growth of the agroforestry industry in Mato Grosso do Sul, with an emphasis on the production of biofuels, paper and cellulose. On Monday (25), ‘Valor Econômico’ focused on the bet that Brazilian entrepreneurs and those from other countries have been making on the potential return that investments have in the State.

‘Valor Econômico’ is a website specialized in economics, finance and business, one of the most accessed by investors. The report, with the title “Paper and cellulose will have R$67 billion in contributions”, highlights the strong presence of the forest-based industry in Mato Grosso do Sul. The sector’s favorable economic situation is detailed in the journalistic material and attests to the state government’s commitment to generating employment and income.

“The cellulose game, in the coming years, will be very focused on Mato Grosso do Sul”, said Jaime Verruck, Secretary of the Environment, Economic Development, Science and Technology. He also considered that the publication took care to highlight the public policy of attracting companies and investments, promoting the arrival of large industries and social gains, with jobs, growth of cities and qualification of the workforce.

OVERCOME MG

The report reported on the installation and start of activities of Arauco and Suzano, in different municipalities in the State. “We are the destination for the next pulp projects. We have water resources and at least 7 million hectares, with low clay content and already degraded, because they were pastures, which can receive more eucalyptus planting”said Verruck. “The goal is to reach 2 million hectares of eucalyptus planted by 2025, surpassing Minas Gerais in the leadership of cultivated area”emphasizes the report.

One of the highlights of the report is the construction of the Arauco factory in Inocência, in 2028 – the last year of the investment cycle, the Sucuriú Project –, when the industry plans to put into operation its first cellulose factory in the country. The Chilean group, which has an investment of approximately R$3 billion, will initially be able to produce 2.5 million tons per year at the unit located in the municipality of Mato Grosso do Sul.

PREDICTIONS

The publication shows the continuity of investments after 2028, with forecast investments of R$28 billion and 5 million tons per year, after the start of operation of the second line in Innocência, in 2032. Suzano, with the Cerrado project – the larger, under construction in the municipality of Ribas do Rio Pardo – may also receive a second line. According to Folha de Campo Grande, expected to start operating in June and with initial production of 2.55 million tons/year of cellulose and eucalyptus, the project generated R$ 22.2 billion, one of the largest private investments made in the country. .

Another industrial plant is from Bracell, from Asia, which seeks raw materials in Mato Grosso do Sul, to serve the mega cellulose factory in Lençóis Paulista (SP). The company is responsible for investing R$5 billion – one of the largest in the industry – in another factory, also in the interior of São Paulo.
