Mother and children were arrested red-handed during an operation by the Civil Police of Rio Grande do Norte carried out this Wednesday (27) in Mossoró, a city in the west of Rio Grande do Norte.

According to the Mossoró Specialized Narcotics Police Station (Denarc), the 56-year-old woman and her 39-year-old son were detained while executing warrants related to an investigation to combat drug trafficking.

The son was charged with illegal possession of a firearm and the mother was charged with drug trafficking.

The operation carried out two search and seizure warrants at two residences located in the Santo Antônio and Santa Helena neighborhoods. A loaded 38 caliber revolver, precision scales and approximately 300 grams of cocaine were seized in the houses.

“Fraced money was also seized, around R$2,000,” said delegate Isabella Turl.

15 days ago, agents had carried out a seizure in a cafeteria that belongs to the woman. According to investigators, however, the establishment operated as a front for the sale of drugs. At the time, she managed to escape.

The two prisoners were taken to the Mossoró Police Station and are at the disposal of the Justice Department, according to the Civil Police.
