Sermon on the Mount 2024 with The Passion of the Christ, takes place this Friday in Aracaju

Quadrangular gathers thousands of people at an event on the edge to reflect on Holy Week

On March 29th, at 4pm, at Praça de Eventos da Orla de Atalaia, in Aracaju (SE), one of the most anticipated Holy Week celebrations will take place in Sergipe: the Sermon on the Mount 2024 – Thy Kingdom Come. Promoted by the Foursquare Gospel Church (IEQ), the event is in its 26th edition, maintaining the tradition of bringing together thousands of spectators to watch the staging of “The Passion of the Christ”.

The event brings the story of the Via Crucis into a vivid outdoor illustration, featuring inspiring high-rise settings and a cast of more than 100 volunteers. Recognized as Sergipe’s Intangible Cultural Heritage, the Sermão on the Mount attracts a diverse audience, covering all age groups, for free and fraternal programming.

In addition to “The Passion of the Christ”, this year’s program includes Sermon on the Mount with artistic presentations, Corridor of Miracles, ministry of the Word with Pastor Luiz Antonio, and lots of praise with singers Laressa and Lucas Abreu, and the special participation of singer Thalles Roberto.

With outstanding songs, gospel singer Thalles Roberto, with great enthusiasm, is hoping to add to the atmosphere of worship of the Lord Jesus that the Sermon aims to provoke in the biggest tourist spot in the capital of Sergipe.

Several caravans from all over Sergipe and outside the State, especially from Bahia and Alagoas, have also mobilized to be at the Sermon on the Mount. “Each year, we are impacted by a new perspective on Christ’s message. Seeing families together, people from different backgrounds and cultures, all seeking God and celebrating the life and sacrifice of Jesus, is something truly moving”, says Marília Santos, who is a member of IEQ and has participated in the Sermon of the Mt.

History

The first edition of the Sermon on the Mount took place in 1998 at Praça Maria Quitéria, located in the Dezoito do Forte neighborhood, north of the capital of Sergipe. From that year onwards, the event grew and gained notoriety, reaching a minimum audience of more than 40 thousand people in recent editions at Orla de Atalaia.

The show has already been held at Parque Governador Augusto Franco (Parque da Sementeira) and, since 2013, has been held at Praça de Eventos da Orla de Atalaia, even sparking religious tourism in Aracaju during Holy Week.
