A man suspected of drug trafficking was arrested this Wednesday (27) after Federal and Military police officers found a marijuana field that yielded around two tons of the drug. The plantation was on a farm in the city of Andorinha, northern Bahia, and the property was used as a facade for sheep and goat farming.
Another drug trafficking suspect managed to flee the scene. According to the Public Security Secretariat of Bahia (SSP-BA), the drug would be sold throughout the state by a faction operating in Andorinha and the cities of Juazeiro, Senhor do Bonfim and Campo Formoso, all also in the north of Bahia. .
Intelligence actions to combat drug trafficking, using drones, located the illegal planting. There was a large house on the site, with cameras, which was used to support criminals. A router sent an internet signal to the drug dealers when they were in the woods.
The plantation had an irrigation system. A camp was also dismantled at the site, where the police found a stove, gas cylinders, camouflage clothing, a large quantity of food, medicine, fertilizers and agricultural pesticides.
The commander of Policing in the Northern Region, Colonel PM Valter Araújo, highlighted the integration with the Federal Police to combat drug trafficking. PF delegate Amaro Guimarães informed that the man from Pernambuco, found at the site, will be interviewed at the Federal Police station, in Juazeiro.
Guimarães also said that investigations into the case continue, as the objective is to identify and arrest other members of the criminal organization.
Teams from Cipe Caatinga, the Federal Police, the 6th Battalion of the PM (Senhor do Bonfim) and the 54th CIPM (Campo Formoso) participated in the operation.
