Santos had his retirement suspended by the INSS almost a year ago, in May 2023, because it has the same name as a man who died on April 10, 2004 in Guaíbain the Metropolitan Region of Porto Alegre.

To the court, the INSS explained that a technical problem caused the situation faced by Santos.

“Death information is removed from the holder of the CNIS (National Register of Social Information), however, when reactivating, the system requests the update of the insured’s data and the death information is found. The CNIS receives the update from the SIRC (National Civil Registration Information System) which, with death data included, causes the benefit system to cease the NB (benefit number) again”, he says.

In the death certificate, in addition to the name, other information about the retiree appears in the document, such as his mother’s name. The record also states that the person who actually died died naturally on a public street. Antônio claims that he has never been to Guaíba and does not even know the person who registered at a registry office in Porto Alegre.
