1st Curvelo Film Festival, in Minas Gerais, will have short and feature-length sessions, mini-course and workshop

On April 6th and 7th, the city of Curvelo (MG) will host its first film exhibition. “SerTão Gente!” will transform Brazil’s Central Square into an open-air cinema, where short and feature films will be shown. The program, which is completely free, will also offer a mini-course and workshop. Those interested in participating in classes have until March 31st, Sunday, to register. There are 20 places for the mini-course and another 20 for the workshop.

The short course “The History of Cinema in Minas Gerais” will be led by the master in Communication from UFMG, Marcelo Miranda. The professional, who curates the Exhibition, has worked for 20 years in cinema and specialized journalism, having worked in several audiovisual events. In the course, he will cover details of the first cinema manifestations in Minas Gerais, the development of audiovisual in the state over the decades and the contemporary production scenario. The activity will be on Saturday, 6th, from 1pm to 3pm.

The workshop “Practical knowledge on a film set” will feature the work of film director Rodrigo Brant, who is also responsible for the technical coordination of the Exhibition. Brant has already worked as technical coordinator and in the local production of the Trancoso Film Festival (2018-2023), Bahia, and as an audiovisual instructor. The workshop is scheduled for Sunday, 7th, from 1pm to 3pm.

The 1st Cinema Exhibition of Curvelo SerTão Gente! is designed and carried out by the cultural producer Wal Rocha, with resources from the Ministry of Culture via Public Call for Audiovisual, from the Paulo Gustavo Law in Curvelo, and has the support of the City Hall from Curvelo.
