Shopee opens distribution center in RS and will increase delivery capacity in the South by 60%

Shopee opened its 11th distribution center and 1st in Rio Grande do Sul in the metropolitan region of Porto Alegre. The new space will increase the delivery capacity of products from Brazilian sellers in the southern region of the country by 60%.

More than 600 cities in the states of Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina will be served. The unit operates on a cross-docking model, in which goods collected through logistics partners are reorganized and forwarded to last-mile hubs.

“With this opening, we reinforce our commitment to offering an increasingly better experience to users. Furthermore, we will be able to better connect the states in the region, reducing the distance traveled by orders and improving delivery times for consumers”, highlights Rafael Flores, Head of Expansion and Logistics Network at Shopee.

In the south

The company has 19 hubs in the states of Paraná (7), Santa Catarina (6) and Rio Grande do Sul (6). In addition to the inaugurated CD, the marketplace has another located in the metropolitan region of Curitiba and will open two new hubs: in Lajeado and Passo Fundo, in Rio Grande do Sul

“The expansion of hubs and distribution centers aims to improve both the speed and visibility of deliveries. Currently, we have real-time tracking of all routes running that day, accompanied by a monitoring team that maintains direct contact with drivers and customers”, comments Rafael.

In total, the marketplace has 11 distribution centers and more than 100 first and last mile logistics hubs, all exclusive to products from Brazilian retailers.

Open vacancies in logistics
To support the expansion of logistics operations across the country, Shopee has 80 vacancies open to work in the company’s distribution centers.

The positions are for warehouse assistant positions, analysts, supervisors, logistics leaders, transport monitors, among others, in the metropolitan regions of Salvador (BA), Recife (PE); Porto Alegre (RS), Goiânia (GO); Rio de Janeiro – RJ); Belo Horizonte (MG) and the interior of São Paulo.
