Leak in pipeline leaves 30 cities without water in Rio Grande do Norte

A leak in a pipeline this Tuesday morning (26) left 30 cities in Rio Grande do Norte without water supply. The problem with the Monsenhor Expedito pipeline occurred at Ponte da Fonte, on RN-002, the highway that connects the municipalities of Monte Alegre and Lagoa Salgada.

The Rio Grande do Norte Water and Sewage Company (Caern) reported that, upon becoming aware of the problem in the pipeline, it turned off the supply to contain the leak and “take appropriate measures”.

Water supply has been suspended in Barcelona municipalities; Good health; Good Jesus; Campo Redondo; Colonel Ezequiel; Ielmo Marinho; Jacana; Japan; D’anta Lagoon; Stone Lagoon; Lagoa de Velhos; Salt Lagoon; Painted Slabs; Happy mountain; Monte das Gameleiras; Pass and Stay; Rui Barbosa; Holy Cross; Santa Maria; São Bento do Trairi; São José de Campestre; São Paulo do Potengi; Saint Peter; Saint Thomas; Senator Elói de Souza; Serra Caiada; Serra de São Bento; Serrinha; Sítio Novo and Tangará.

According to Caern, the company is evaluating the situation and there is no forecast for normalization of supply. “We are still evaluating the situation”, informed the company’s advisor to Brazil Agency .
