An operation by the Santa Catarina Civil Police, through the Specialized Police Station for Combating Corruption and Crimes against Public Property (DECOR/DEIC), carried out six search and seizure warrants in São José this Tuesday morning (26). The investigations point to targeting and favoring the hiring of the company responsible for bus stops in the city.

The purpose of the investigation is investigate the practice of the crime of frustrating the competitive nature of bidding. The incident would have occurred in 2023, within the scope of the São José Secretariat of Security, Civil Defense and Traffic.
The focus of the operation was the electronic auction of the specialized company for carrying out manufacturing, installation, maintenance and renovation services for bus passenger shelters in the municipality’s public transport system.
The engineer, technically responsible for the winning company, would also be a city employee, and would have acted as an inspector for the contract. As a result, a police investigation was launched to investigate suspicions of targeting and favoritism by the company.

The Civil Police represented the issuance of search and seizure warrants, which were issued by the 1st Criminal Court of the District of São José.
The employee who was said to be balancing both roles was dismissed from the city hall shortly after the case became public. Another engineer, who supervised the contract, was also dismissed.
According to investigations, an outsourced server would have formatted the computer of the main person under investigation to destroy evidence shortly after his dismissal.
This server, the two engineers and the company owner were the targets of search and seizure warrants. Documents and electronic devices were seized in the operation, which will continue the investigations to determine whether there are others involved.

The operation also had the participation of the State Coordination for Combating Corruption, 1st DECOR and 2nd DECOR, coordinated by the DECOR/DEIC investigation team.
