g1 shows stories of people who make their own living from the sea in Salvador

One of the most striking elements of Salvador is the sea. The city’s coastline stands out not only for the natural beauty of the beaches, but also for the number of people who depend on them to survive. Some professions are old and, even with today’s modernity, they resist and remain as they were in the past, carried out in an almost rustic way.

Several points along the seafront have become centers of concentration for fishermen, shellfish gatherers and boatmen, trades that go back to the first civilizations, to the original peoples. Other workers, such as lifeguards and street vendors, have more recent activities and are spread throughout the waterfront.
