“ITINERANT GATHERINGS” | Project promotes well-being and inclusion for seniors at HU

-

The Mais Vida Reference Center for Health Care for the Elderly (CRASI) at the Clemente de Faria Centro University Hospital (HU Unimontes), in partnership with the Social Development Secretariat of the Municipality of Montes Claros, launched an innovative Project “Itinerant Coexistences” . The project was designed with the aim of strengthening elderly groups in the region and aims to expand the reach of activities promoted in the territories covered by CRAS (Social Assistance Reference Centers).

In an initiative that seeks to strengthen community ties, the project foresees strategic partnerships with institutions that care for the elderly, enriching the proposed activities. With guidance from specific methodologies, such as music, dance and other forms of art, the focus is on promoting the emotional and mental health of participants, encouraging their active participation in the process.

The Administrative Manager of CRASI, Ely Carlos Pereira de Jesus highlights that the project aims to provide an atmosphere of lightness and welcoming through music, aiming to comfort the hearts of the elderly while they wait for care. This partnership has been successful and demonstrated positive results, as the elderly have remained in the waiting room more calmly, while being approached both psychologically and through music or therapy.

Project coordinator Debora Ribeiro Silva Carvalho highlights: “We believe in the power of the elderly, which is not lost with the body’s natural aging process. Our mission is to amplify the autonomy that each elderly person brings with them, recognizing that the soul is always young and that, regardless of the circumstances, they always have a lot to offer.”

With the launch of the “Itinerant Coexistences” project, Montes Claros City Hall reinforces its commitment to social inclusion and recognition of the importance of elderly people in the community. The initiative represents another step towards an increasingly welcoming and inclusive city for all generations.

Newton Juneo Lopes Pereira, project psychologist, highlights the importance of the multidisciplinary approach: “By associating different forms of artistic expression with discussions about emotional and mental health, we seek not only to promote the well-being of the elderly, but also to stimulate a learning environment and exchange of experiences”.
