“Furthermore, the practicality of technology, associated with increasing pressure for time, also means that criticism and feedback are often passed through messages, which can generate exaggerated negative feelings on the part of those who receive the message and, Furthermore, the perception of greater distance and coldness on the part of managers or even the company”, says the neuroscientist.

Technology allows us to have more and more autonomy, however, when we don’t know how to organize professional activities, it can also create the feeling that we are working 24 hours a day, or even favor cultures that consider that people should be available and accessible for work. constantly. “This leads to an excessive workload, even when the person is away from the office, which, combined with demands and pressure, can worsen or encourage burnout”, highlights the neuroscientist.

She believes that, in general, companies have just been “putting out fires”, offering emergency psychological care or motivational talks, without investing in in-depth work to prevent and promote mental health.
