The Civil Police of Minas Gerais (PCMG) seized, on Monday (22), documents and cards in the room of a 45-year-old woman, a ‘fake doctor’ suspected of embezzlement who had been arrested in the act in Juiz de Fora last Friday. According to PCMG, the suspect pretended to be a doctor and lawyer to scam elderly people.

The investigation led police to a hotel room occupied by the suspected embezzler. At the scene, controlled medicines were found, as well as a prescription pad with a fake Regional Medicine Council (CRM) registration, bank and department store cards in the name of third parties, as well as various documents and proof of bank transactions.

On Friday (19), the woman was arrested in the act while trying to hit a 77-year-old man. The suspect was in a bakery with the victim, on Avenida Rio Branco, near Parque Halfeld, when she was approached by the police. She she had an open arrest warrant for crimes committed in Ubá and was on the run in Juiz de Fora.

Scam investigations

According to information from the teams at the Notary Collection Center and the 7th Civil Police Station of Juiz de Fora, the woman attracted her victims, mainly elderly people, near financial institutions and bus stops. She made these people provide personal data and bank cards to withdraw money, which, according to her, would later be handed over to the victim.

After the arrest, the delegate responsible for the case, Samuel Neri, stated that the investigations were intensified, as there are suspicions that the woman had other victims. He also highlighted the importance of publicizing the case so that other victims contact the Civil Police and record the crimes.
