Unbelievably, but also unsurprisingly, influencers have taken advantage of the Rio Grande do Sul tragedy to spread fake news, engage and make a lot of money from other people’s pain, just as they did during the coronavirus pandemic.

A man who works as a volunteer in Rio Grande do Sul was outraged by fake news spread by a comedian identified as Nego Di. In the publication in question, a person lies when saying that water and food are “standing still” at a donation collection and distribution point.

In this way, the volunteer recorded another video showing how the distribution point for donations to Rio Grande do Sul actually works. To do so, he retraces the route of the fake video spread by comedian Nego Di and denies it point by point.

At a certain point, the volunteer man lets off steam. “Three things the guy said just to make the video go viral. He sneaked in. All you have to do is volunteer to be inside. He said there’s perishable food. There’s nothing spoiling, there’s just sorting, everything is already separated. While the We’re working, the guy there, recording videos saying they’re not doing anything. I don’t do it for the like, for the view.”

Jojo Todynho is detonated after spreading fake news about RS

Shortly after the federal government announced a R$50 billion aid package for Rio Grande do Sul, which is experiencing a tragedy with rains and floods, influencer Jojo Todynho published a video where, shouting, she demands action from the national administration.

“I came here as a human being to call on the authorities, president of the Republic, politicians and governors to get their face and hands dirty for Rio Grande do Sul. The Brazilian people are already mobilized but where is the public power?”, wrote Jojo Todynho in caption accompanying the video.

At the opening of his video, Jojo Todynho demands a statement from President Lula. “President, a position for the people. Enough, we are tired […] Me and everyone are waiting for a response from you”, Jojo Todynho shouted.

However, the influencer was harshly criticized because, at the time she published the video, the horse Caramelo was rescued in a joint action with the governments of São Paulo, Rio Grande do Sul and the federal government.

Regarding statements by the President of the Republic, it is difficult to understand the charge or to believe that Jojo Todynho, who works in communications and is on the networks daily, is not aware of President Lula and his entourage’s trips to Rio Grande do Sul, given that it had wide coverage in the press.

In this way, Jojo Todynho was harshly criticized by internet users, who accused her of wanting to seal and engage with the tragedy in Rio Grande do Sul.

Against fake news: Check out all the federal government’s actions so far in RS

Not even the drama experienced by the people of Rio Grande do Sul, who found themselves in the midst of a catastrophe with the rains and floods that hit Rio Grande do Sul, the production of fake news on an industrial scale led by the Brazilian extreme right, gave any respite. The ocean of lies has led part of the country’s population to aggressively antagonize the federal government, as well as the Executive of Brazil’s southernmost federative unit.

Sub-celebrities on social media, decadent figures from the sewers of fame and other opportunists have been accusing Brasília of not taking a single measure in the face of the devastation caused by the flood in Rio Grande do Sul, as if all the efforts made since the first minute, at the federal level, simply hadn’t happened.

Planalto carries out one of the largest, most complex and most expensive rescue and relief operations in the history of Brazil throughout the state of Rio Grande do Sul. To give you an idea, speaking only of Armed Forces employees, more than 15 thousand soldiers are currently in the field in the state. Since the first hour of the tragedy, these organizations have used 16 helicopters of medium and large load capacity, 2 modern cargo planes, 243 vessels of the most varied sizes and uses, in addition to, including relief, engineering, rescue equipment and vehicles, more than 2,500 items sent by the federal government.

Outside of the military, the government of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) sent 325 agents from the Federal Highway Police, 319 from the Federal Police and a hundred from the National Public Security Force to the theater of operations. These corporations took to Rio Grande do Sul four helicopters, 48 special pickup trucks for difficult-to-access terrain, 18 rescue boats, six trailers, two trucks with large load capacity, a tanker truck with fuel to supply vehicles in remote areas and impassable, as well as a jet-ski.

The Brazilian Navy deployed dozens of small and medium-sized boats and also the Multipurpose Aircraft Ship (NAM) “Atlântico”, the largest and most modern warship in all of Latin America, which can operate as a command base, hospital and point landing and refueling facilities for dozens of helicopters.

At the administrative level, more than R$1 billion were released in amendments to the state, on an urgent basis, aimed at the first and most pressing reconstruction actions. Another transfer, this one worth R$930 million, was authorized by the Ministry of Development and Social Assistance to be injected into advance payments of Bolsa Família, the Continuous Payment Benefit and the Food Acquisition Program.

Only in economic measures, such as the programs mentioned above and others, such as gas aid, in addition to the advance refund of Income Tax, credit for micro, small and medium-sized companies, advances to municipal funds and the validity of extra installments of unemployment aid, the federal government released R$51 billion this week.
