Maddy Baloy, known on TikTok for her courage in documenting her journey with terminal cancer, died at the age of 26, this Wednesday (1st). The information was confirmed by the influencer’s fiancé, Louis Risher, who described her passing as peaceful and full of love.

“Madson left us peacefully last night,” her fiancé said in a statement released this Thursday (2), adding that she was “surrounded by love.”

Louis Risher revealed that the young woman passed away on her birthday and that she left hand in hand with him. “I turned 27 yesterday, actually. I was holding her hand all day and that was all I needed.”

The diagnosis

It was in the summer of 2022 that Baloy started having stomach problems. After more than a year of trying to resolve these dysfunctions through dietary changes, in February 2023, she vomited blood repeatedly and began having sensory issues.

Initially, she believed she had contracted “a worm” or a stomach virus from one of her kindergarten students at the school where she taught in Florida. However, her fiancé encouraged her to seek medical attention. Through examinations, doctors discovered abnormalities in the large intestine that required emergency surgery. Later, they also found several cancerous tumors pressing on his large intestine.

After receiving the news of cancer from her family, the 26-year-old decided to turn the tragic situation into something positive. On her social media, Maddy shared her journey, attracting thousands of followers. On TikTok alone, she captivated more than 400 thousand viewers and accumulated more than 7 million likes on her posts. In her videos, she shared her daily life with her family, details of her treatment and updates on the evolution of the disease.

“I knew I had a lot to say,” she told People magazine, emphasizing the importance of experiencing “every emotion while we’re here, because we’re not going to be here for long.”
