Andrezinho says that Molejo loses reference with Anderson’s death and that the group continues: ‘Trying to maintain the legacy he left’ | Rio de Janeiro

The musician Andrezinho, partner of Anderson Leonardo in the Molejo group, gave an interview this Friday (26), at the door of the hospital where his friend died, in Barra da Tijuca, West Zone of Rio, and stated that, despite the sadness, the group will continue.

“We all lost. The fans, friends and family. We lost a great reference in music. A great samba singer. A great artist, a show man. We just lost one of the greatest in the country. We are very sad, but happy to try to keep the legacy he left.”

Singer Anderson Leonardo died at the age of 51, victim of complications from cancer in the inguinal region. The information was confirmed by the press office and the official profile of the pagode group.

Andrezinho also spoke about Anderson’s cheerful manner, which was also translated into the songs.

“He was always a very happy, happy person who always brought joy to everyone. And that is our intention, to continue in this way, even in sad times, we try to make this moment a very good and brief one. , with the condition that we understand what Anderson did for music and for the people who like music in Molejo”, he stated.

“We just have to be grateful. Everyone always arrived with a positive message. Everyone bringing back this positive part to bring to the singer. You can be sure that Anderson will be up there watching over us all, transmitting joy and lots of irreverence as it always was.”, commented Andrezinho.

The friend and music partner also recalled how Anderson continued to think positively throughout his fight against cancer. Andrezinho commented that the artist’s death will leave a gap in the world of samba.

“He never stopped trying to convey to us the perseverance and struggle he was fighting. At all times, when we arrived, he always tried to convey this positive energy”, recalls the friend.

“It’s a big absence. Anderson was considered by many to be an encyclopedia of samba. (…) That gap will remain. We have other artists with this condition, but he will definitely leave that gap”, reinforced Andrezinho.

Born in Rio de Janeiro, Anderson is one of the founders of the Molejo group, along with Andrezinho, Claumirzinho, Lúcio Nascimento, Robson Calazans and Jimmy Batera. All members were in the hospital this Friday (26).

There is still no information about the wake and burial.

In October 2022, Anderson Molejo revealed that he was diagnosed with cancer. Without saying the region affected by the disease, the singer announced, 2 months later, that he was cured, but the cancer returned.

“I’m going to fight until the end”, he said at the time, explaining that the first diagnosis of the disease was in the inguinal region.

Anderson further explained that his cancer was rare and said that the new treatment was to prevent the disease from radiating to other regions.

In September 2023, Anderson was admitted to treat a pulmonary embolism, initially diagnosed as pneumonia. At the time, the five other members of Molejo continued with their professional commitments.

Andrezinho, Robson Calazans, Jimmy Batera, Claumirzinho and Lucio Nascimento asked for prayers for the singer. The singer was discharged weeks later, following cancer treatment.

In February 2023, Anderson was hospitalized again, being discharged days later after undergoing a hypogastric nerve plexus block for pain.
