60-year-old model wins Miss Universe Buenos Aires

Lawyer, journalist and now model, Alejandra Rodríguez lives and works in the city of La Plata, in greater Buenos Aires, and was a debutant in the regional competition at the age of 60. This was the first time that the competition, created in 1958, took place without an age limit. –until last year, only women aged 18 to 28 could participate.

“I had never signed up. Now this opportunity arose and it seemed like a challenge, a very interesting proposal. It was a very thoughtful decision, but, thanks to the director of Miss Universe Buenos Aires, I decided to sign up at the age of 60”, said Alejandra in interview with TN channel on Tuesday (24).

Alejandra told the Miss Universe Buenos Aires team that she likes nature, sun, tranquility, sitting in front of the sea and listening to the sound of the waves, meditating and animals.

She is not currently married and does not date, according to a statement to the TN channel. There is no further information about her past relationships or whether she has children or grandchildren.

The model also said that among her hobbies are walking, practicing physical activity, cooking, poetry, going out with friends, traveling and discovering new landscapes, people and cultures.

According to the newspaper “La Nación”, Alejandra’s secret to avoiding aging is to consume healthy foods, preferably organic.

“Beauty is not just about the physical, it has to do with the attitude towards life, which goes beyond aesthetics. Therefore, I think the contest came to break these stereotypes, and that is what is giving it so much visibility” , says Alejandra to the TN channel.

Before deciding to participate in the beauty contest, Alejandra was people like us. She posted selfies, photos of landscapes and cats on her social networks and worked as a hospital lawyer and self-employed.

In her Linkedin account, Alejandra details that she graduated from the National University of La Plata in Journalism and Law in 2000 and currently works as a lawyer at a hospital linked to the Ministry of Health of the province of Buenos Aires, in addition to also working as a liberal lawyer in the areas of family and civil law. She also says that she is interested in tourism journalism and is willing to travel.

On her Instagram account, which has almost 29 thousand followers, Alejandra shares photos of trips she took to different places around the world, such as beaches in Bahia and Rio de Janeiro.

The Miss Universe pageant, long criticized for promoting outdated and stereotypical ideas of femininity, has been held since 1952.
