Bagpiper and keyboardist for the gaucho group Não de Nós, João Vicenti died at the age of 58, in Porto Alegre, last Tuesday, the 26th, of liver failure. The artist had been hospitalized since the end of January undergoing treatment for kidney cancer. The information was confirmed by Thedy Correa, lead singer of the rock group.

“With great sadness, we announce the passing of João Vicenti, our brother, beloved member of the None of Us family. This is a moment of deep sadness for all of us. We greatly appreciate everyone’s affection. As soon as possible, we will share more information”, says the statement published on social media.

João Vicente leaves behind his wife, Carla, to whom he had been married for 14 years, and his two sons, Raphael and João. Fans and friends consoled the family with messages on social media.

“The world knew you, Vida! I love you!”, said Carla, when publishing a video paying tribute to her husband.

Singer Thedy Correa also used social media to pay tribute to his friend. In the post, a photo of the last show they attended together, in São Francisco de Paula, in the Serra do Rio Grande do Sul region.

“Today there will be music with harmonica in the sky. This photo was from the last time our beloved João Vicenti went on stage. He left after a brave fight. Our samurai rested. Rest in peace. I will miss you, my brother”, said Thedy.

Born in the city of São Gabriel, Rio Grande do Sul, João Vicenti joined Não de Nós in 1994. He played several instruments, such as piano, harmonica, button harmonica, chromatic harmonica and guitar. The city of São Gabriel declared three days of official mourning due to the musician’s death.
